A historic greenhouse comes back to life
In the heart of Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome, at Casale dei Cedrati, stands a historic greenhouse where pineapples were once grown. After years of neglect, H4O restored it with organic hydroponic systems: today it holds 1,200 plants.
From pineapple house to vertical garden
We respected the original structure, with its stone walls, arches and glass roof. Along the walls we installed vertical towers and growing tanks: a long, narrow space becomes a productive garden, without soil and with little water.
From the harvest to the Casale’s table
Salad greens, chard, basil and other vegetables are used at the Casale itself. Truly zero-mile: from greenhouse to table in a few steps.
